Data Deletion
Effective: 8 May 2026 · Last updated: 8 May 2026
You can permanently delete your Tailspot data at any time. This
page lists the three paths depending on whether you are a Free
user, a Pro subscriber, or you no longer have access to the app
(e.g. lost your phone).
Free users have no server-stored data. Uninstalling
the app removes everything.
Pro subscribers have encrypted cloud-backed copies
on our server; those need an explicit delete request from inside
the app or via email.
1. Free user — uninstall
If you have never started a Pro subscription, all your Tailspot
data lives only on your phone. To delete it:
- Long-press the Tailspot app icon and tap Uninstall.
- Confirm. Android will remove the app and its private storage,
including the local database and any photos you attached.
That's it. We never had a copy.
2. Pro subscriber — in-app deletion
Pro subscribers have encrypted backup rows on our server. To
delete both local and cloud data:
- Open Tailspot, tap the More tab.
- Scroll to Privacy & data.
- Tap Delete my data. Confirm the irreversible
delete. The app will:
- send a delete-all request to the server, which tombstones
every cloud-stored row for your purchase token (the
ciphertext is hard-deleted within 24 hours);
- clear the local database and photo cache;
- sign you out of any pending sync state.
- Optionally, cancel your Pro subscription in
Google Play → Subscriptions → Tailspot. (Deleting
data does NOT cancel the subscription — Google Play handles
billing separately.)
- Uninstall the app.
3. Pro subscriber — email deletion request
If you can't open the app (lost phone, account locked out, etc.),
email us at
fenixjzdev@gmail.com
with:
- The Google Play order ID from the receipt
email Google sent you when you subscribed (looks like
GPA.XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX).
- The email address attached to the Google account that bought
the subscription, so we can confirm the request is from you.
We will action the delete within 14 days and email confirmation.
After deletion, an empty audit row remains for 24 months noting
that a deletion happened (required for billing-dispute records),
but no pet data persists.
4. What survives deletion
The following minimal records persist after a delete request, and
why:
- The subscription audit log
(
tailspot_pro_events) — purchase, renewal, cancel,
delete events, kept 24 months for billing dispute resolution.
Contains your purchase token, event types, and timestamps. It
does NOT contain pet data.
- Tombstone rows for 90 days — required so that
a phone you forgot to delete from learns about the deletion on
its next sync attempt. After 90 days the tombstones themselves
are hard-deleted.
